On the moon, the crew finds massive artificial structures housing thousands of canisters filled with a mysterious . They discover that the Engineers were wiped out nearly 2,000 years prior by their own biological creation.

Weyland, who has been secretly in stasis aboard the ship, reveals he is dying and seeks eternal life from the Engineers. David discovers one surviving Engineer in stasis and wakes him. Instead of granting life, the Engineer decapitates David and kills Weyland, then prepares to pilot a massive spacecraft to Earth to wipe out humanity with the black goo.
