The online gaming community has grown exponentially in recent years, with millions of players worldwide engaging in various forms of digital entertainment. However, this growth has also led to the emergence of toxic behavior, which can negatively impact the gaming experience for many players. Toxicity in online gaming refers to behavior that is intended to harm, intimidate, or belittle others, often through the use of inflammatory language, harassment, or other forms of abuse. Research on online toxicity has primarily focused on its psychological and social impacts. Studies have shown that exposure to toxic behavior can lead to decreased motivation, enjoyment, and overall well-being among gamers (Kowalski et al., 2014; Hill & Wang, 2015). Furthermore, toxic behavior can create a hostile environment, driving away new players and damaging the reputation of online gaming communities (Hamari & Koivisto, 2015). This study employed a critical discourse analysis (CDA) approach, examining online forums, social media platforms, and gaming communities associated with ToxicModzz. A systematic search of online platforms yielded a dataset of 500 posts, comments, and messages, which were analyzed for themes, patterns, and linguistic features. The analysis focused on the language and communication strategies used by ToxicModzz members, as well as the social and cultural contexts in which toxic behavior emerged.
