The clock is ticking and the keys are clacking under my fingers and I don’t know where this thought is going but that’s the whole point of freewriting isn't it? Just letting the brain dump everything onto the screen like a digital junk drawer. I'm thinking about coffee and the way the steam rises in the morning and how sometimes it's hard to start a project because we’re so afraid of it being perfect but in this mode, nothing has to be perfect. You just write. You throw out the rules of grammar and structure and let the "inner critic" take a coffee break. It’s about flow. It’s about finding the weird hidden ideas that only come out when you stop trying to sound smart. Ten minutes in and my hands are tired but the page is full and that’s a win in my book.
