The Eumenides is the final installment of Aeschylus’ Oresteia trilogy (458 BC), famously dramatizing the world’s first jury trial and the transition from blood feuds to civic justice. It follows Orestes, who has murdered his mother, Clytemnestra, to avenge his father, Agamemnon, and is now being hounded by the Furies.
