To use an MP4 "piece" (video clip) on your cards, you can follow these methods:

: You can add a video to a field by using the syntax [sound:filename.mp4] .

: Some users create advanced templates that use MP4s for specific interactive elements, such as chess move animations or heatmap visualizations . Troubleshooting Common Issues

: Anki desktop uses mpv (or mplayer as a fallback) to play these files. While MP4 is universally supported across AnkiWeb, AnkiDroid, and AnkiMobile, some advanced encoding might only work properly on specific platforms.

: If you are using many large MP4 files, you may need to export and move your collection manually using external storage or SFTP, as syncing via AnkiWeb can be slow for very large media folders.

: On Anki desktop, embedded videos from external sources may sometimes default to lower resolutions (like 360p) compared to higher resolutions (1080p) on mobile or web versions.

I have read you new book “Behind the Landscape.” I could not “put it down” meaning that I kept at it because each photo you presented/analyzed was interesting and informative. I am trying to develop an eye for composition (both the scene and the light).

Thank you! The examples you present and the suggestions are very helpful. Purple Mountains, McKinley River and Wonder Lake are fascinating.

You have done it again! Another triumph. Ankimp4

Your generosity to share, the clarity of thought and concise explanation thereof is brilliant. Perhaps I should also mention the beautiful photos and the talent necessary to produce them.

Thank you, Dan.
